Chelsea player rating against Middlesbrough
Chelsea suffered a one nil defeat in their first leg in the Semi-final of their Carabao Cup match against Middlesbrough.
Chelsea Were confident coming into the match with A win over a fellow tough premier league opponent (Newcastle) in a match already thought to be over and they won on penalties after the equalized with few minutes to go from a Mudryk Goal after Kerran Trippier failed to clear a cross from Malo Gusto.
Chelsea also scored 4 goals against a struggling side in their third round of the Emirate FA cup. The defeat to Middlesbrough ended Chelsea’s 3 games unbeaten run in all competitions.
This is how the Chelsea players are rated
- GK (Djordje Petrović) (4).
He really wasn’t tested too much in the game as he was only faced with two shots on target 🎯 which one resulted into the goal. Nothing really to do. - RB Malo Gusto. (6).
Really had a good game, was threatening in the Right wing but couldn’t get much to do with crosses but he was good defensively too.
- RCB Axel Disasi (5)
He was solid in the Heart of the defense partnering with Silva. He had a good game, has a tackle on in the first half which sent Boro (Lathe latt injured) but couldn’t prevent Hackney from scoring
- LCB Thiago Silva (6).
He was really at the heart of everything from the defense. Has the most touches from the back and also controlled the play. He slipped late on and he recovered to keep the opposition at bay. A good outing despite conceding.
- LB Lewi Colwill (3).
He had a very poor outing against Middlesbrough. He played as a CB instead of the LB. No wing play. He switched off that led to the goal and even picked up a yellow card for a silly foul. He was slow on the ball and lack decision. He had a very frustrating night.
- CDM Moiseś Caicedo (7).
He made himself big by throwing himself to tackles and ball recoveries. He would have gotten a goal with a close range shot and also an assist if Palmer did convert. A MOM performance.
- CM Enzo Fernàndez (5).
Didn’t really have a good game by his standards, he was missing in the middle of the park in the first half. Although showed some spark in the second half but he got substituted in a tactical change.
- CM Cornor Gallagher (6)
He was good playing box to box. He did some runs that helped cole Palmer playing upfront to be able to switch positions with him. He did his Best even as the skipper But not up to his standard.
- LW Raheem Sterling (4)
The 4-3-3 formation against the 3-5-1-1 didn’t work for both Wingers as they were kept at bay. Although Sterling did showed his masterclass a bit but it wasn’t enough.
- RW Noni Madueke (4)
also didn’t show any serious attacking threats. He was not stable on the ball and was a bit wasteful. Such a poor outing.
- CF Cole Palmer (3)
Another worst performer of the night. By his standard and form he Should be bagging an Hattrick in the game but wasted those Chances. Playing him as a front nine was ridiculous. Who knows what’s on the coach’s mind. He struggled to make up for the errors but resulted in making unforced errors. Surely a night for him to forget.
- Substitutes (Mudryk, Broja (4)
They didn’t have much impact coming into the game. Although Mudryk did better and showed more threat with a shot on target. broja also had a good cross flash wide of the goal with no one to tap in.
- Gilchrist -
- Coach Mauricio Pochettino (2)
Was so poor in the game as he had nothing to change in the game in likes of changing tactics. He risked a lot in the game and it didn’t go well. He became clueless as to what he had to do to change the Course of the Game.
Second leg at Stamford Bridge in Two Weeks time.
